bd2 was once again delighted to support this year’s Wigan 10K both as a sponsor, by providing the brand and website, and as participants. Well at least some staff and associates ran in the somewhat damp conditions this year, so a ‘well done’ goes to Project Manger Rory and his wife Kerry, Office Manager Bryony’s husband Andrew, Design Director Stuart and former Designer Joe who left us a couple of months ago to join Boohoo. They were joined by some 3000 runners to make this year’s event the biggest yet.10klogo sm

The 10K has grown into one of the region’s most popular races in just five years due in no small part to the vision and tenacity of Matt Johnson, from charity ‘Joining Jack’ (and Jack’s uncle), which is the reason we got involved. Matt worked tirelessly to get the event off the ground and gained the backing of the Council whose support is, of course, essential and he invests an enormous amount of his own time very year organising the race which has become a massive contributor to the Charity’s incredible fund raising efforts, see http://www.joinjack.org for more information.

It’s a measure of Matt’s success that the 10K has led to a bigger event scheduled for next year, the Run Wigan Festival will take place on the 18th of March 2018 and includes a half marathon, a 5K and a Family Mile. We’re once again delighted to be able to support this event by providing further brands, based on the 10K, and a new website http://www.runwiganfestivals.co.uk. A special mention should go to bd2 UI developer Paul Bonikowski who has contributed a lot of work in his own time too.

“Andy and I, along with everyone at Joining Jack would once again, like to offer a huge thank you to you for all your help and support at the 5th Wigan 10k. We are continuously grateful that you choose to support us with the Wigan 10k. We are still doing all the sums and working out what we have raised for Joining Jack but we are hoping to have made a huge amount, which will as you know, go straight into the hands of the carefully selected researchers and experts in the area of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”
